New Year, New Hope

I love New Year's Eve, it's all about new beginnings, a fresh start, and hope. Even though the next day is really not any different from the day before except for a new number at the end of your datebook, it feels different because of what you decide to do to celebrate it and what you decided to do to change your tomorrow. Hope is about action. If you don't act on it, then how can you believe it? Strange concept but so true. If there was no hope, there would be no one out there fighting for a cure for cancer, no one getting married, and so on. It affects our every day lives. So to celebrate this New Years and to remind myself the importance of hope, here is a list of my top 10 favorite quotes on hope.

10. "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow." ~Albert Einstein.

9. "Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working." ~Anonymous

8. "Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it." ~Bill Cosby

7. "May the love deep inside your heart find the love waiting in your dreams. May the laughter you find in your tomorrow wipe away the pain you find in your yesterdays." ~Anonymous

6. "To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risks must be taken because is greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing." ~Anonymous

5. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." ~Oscar Wilde

4. "Hope is a dream of a soul awake." ~French Proverb

3. "In all things it is better to hope than to despair." Johann Goethe

2. "What seem to us bitter trials are often blessings in disguise." ~Oscar Wilde

1. "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see." ~Hebrews 11:1

Happy New Years everyone! May your New Year be a fresh beginning!

My Fair Lady

Whenever I feel like saying FML, I watch MFL (My Fair Lady) and everything turns right with the world!
This movie is so sweet! And a musical, I love musicals a little too much. It borders on obsession. But this one is by far the best and I never get tired of watching the "heartless gutter snipe" transform into a lady to realize she's rather fond of the man that transformed her. So simple, yet perfection. I like how it isn't an intense romance, musicals have a tendency to over exaggerate those. But not this one! And Audrey Hepburn is in it! She is gorgeous and portrays her character perfectly.
I really want to watch this now, but I left it back in my apartment at school.
But the moral of the story is, if you're ever feeling blue, watch this and it'll turn your day around!

On the 28th it will be three years since Rosalie Hanna Larkin passed away, she was my great-grandmother and one of the sweetest ladies yall would have ever met. She was essentially June Cleaver, Better Crocker, Mrs. Brady, all wrapped into one but with the exception that her husband was loud, crazy and loved to dance. She always looked amazing, always wore heels, and her house was always immaculate and was filled with fresh food. She had amazing skin and pure-white hair. She did not look 90, I hope I get those genes! I miss her dearly.

If only I could be just like her!

PS- Her maiden name is my middle name, I love it, even with the unique spelling!

About Me

Hello friends!
My name is Allie and I am a junior in college and doing my best to get the most out of life! I am a science major and love every minute of it. I'm trying to make my own way through life even though it isn't always pretty. I live a high stress life of being a perfectionist, a science major, working part time, and now struggling with minor health issues that aren't serious, but do require time and attention. I love to help my friends and family, sometimes too much, and would do anything for them.
So this blog is going me sharing my crazy, journey through life. Life is a journey, so there is always new things to explore and learn about myself, others, the world, and Our Heavenly Father. I know in my life I will be Forever Learning.
Feel free to comment and share your lovely, difficult, or crazy adventures!
